LPG is a highly hazardous product if handled recklessly or used without proper awareness. Therefore, the rapid growth of the LPG industry in Tanzania must go hand in hand with adequate public and user awareness, as well as strict compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable codes and standards.
TZLPGA was honored to receive an invitation from the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS), which provided an important opportunity to engage with LPG accessories importers and suppliers. During the meeting, discussions focused on the presence of substandard LPG accessories and equipment in the market, which have been reported in several cases as sources of LPG-related fires and explosion incidents.
The engagement resulted in clear action items to be implemented jointly, aimed at improving product quality, strengthening compliance, and enhancing overall LPG safety across the industry supply value chain.
